Biographical or Historical Information

Although Carthage students assembled a modest “annual” in 1899, 1911 marked the publication of the first official yearbook. The class of 1911 may have hoped that Carthage would publish a yearbook every year, but until 1915 the Crimson Rambler was published bi-annually. Substantial publication gaps also occurred in the 1930s and 1940s, caused in part by the harsh economic times and WWII. The years of 1934-1936 and 1939-1944 are lost to us. During the years in which Carthage was operating in two locations, both the Carthage, IL and Kenosha campuses created their own yearbooks. When the campuses were consolidated in Wisconsin, the Crimson Rambler and the Sea Gull were merged to form the Driftwood.  The current yearbook continues under the name of Driftwood.
